Leading global logistics company deploys Motorola Solutions at its Belgian port
Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics is a leading provider of logistics solutions to manufacturers of cars, trucks and heavy equipment. The company delivers a wide range of specialised processing services, world-class supply chain services, inland distribution and terminal handling. In 2022, the company moved 2.3 million cars, rolling equipment and breakbulk units and handled about 7.6 million units at processing centres around the world.
Its Zeebrugge terminal in Belgium is located at the largest RoRo (roll-on, roll-off) port in the world; it has two berths and covers 50 hectares. From here, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics offers customers both deep and short-sea services to ports around the world and rail and road connections to the rest of Europe.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics is een toonaangevende leverancier van logistieke oplossingen voor fabrikanten van auto's, vrachtwagens en zwaar materieel. Het bedrijf levert een breed scala aan gespecialiseerde verwerkingsdiensten, supply chain-diensten van wereldklasse, binnenlandse distributie en terminalafhandeling. In 2022 verplaatste het bedrijf 2,3 miljoen auto's, rollend materieel en breakbulk-eenheden en verwerkte het ongeveer 7,6 miljoen eenheden in verwerkingscentra wereldwijd.
De terminal in Zeebrugge, België, bevindt zich in de grootste RoRo-haven (roll-on, roll-off) ter wereld; deze heeft twee ligplaatsen en beslaat 50 hectare. GDW Security
Wallenius Wilhelmsen was looking to upgrade its video security system and following a procurement process, GDW Security was appointed to deploy an Avigilon™ video security system. GDW Security is a SME with more than 40 skilled employees. GDW has great experience and is fully trained by Lobeco on Avigilon™ solutions.
A range of Avigilon cameras has been installed on the site to afford complete video visibility across the 50 hectares, so increasing port security. Wallenius Wilhelmsen is also using or planning to use a wide range of the Avigilon AI Video Analytics features to identify potential issues; and, to maximise the potential of the integration of the radio and video systems.
This enables security teams and the workforce to receive and respond to Avigilon Control Center (ACC) alarms via their radios. For example, if the cameras capture a perimeter breach or any other suspicious behaviour, security will immediately receive an alarm on their radios and can go to investigate. Users can also raise alarms and the security teams can then immediately focus in on the relevant camera footage.
This integration enables the teams to make informed decisions, respond to incidents faster and more effectively, and efficiently mobilise the workforce, in case of an emergency. Ultimately, the integration further enhances the safety and security of the terminal.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen was op zoek naar een upgrade van het videosysteem en na een aanbestedingsprocedure werd GDW Security aangesteld om een Avigilon™ videobeveiligingssysteem te installeren. GDW Security is een kmo met meer dan 40 vakbekwame medewerkers. GDW beschikt over ruime ervaring en is volledig opgeleid door Lobeco in Avigilon™ oplossingen.
Op het terrein zijn diverse Avigilon-camera’s geplaatst om volledige videobewaking over de 50 hectare mogelijk te maken, wat bijdraagt aan de verhoging van de beveiliging in de haven. Wallenius Wilhelmsen maakt daarnaast gebruik van, of is van plan gebruik te maken van, een breed scala aan Avigilon AI Video Analytics-functionaliteiten om potentiële problemen vroegtijdig te signaleren. Ook wordt de integratie tussen het radio- en videosysteem optimaal benut.
Dankzij deze integratie kunnen de beveiligingsteams en medewerkers alarmmeldingen uit het Avigilon Control Center (ACC) ontvangen via hun portofoons. Als bijvoorbeeld een camera een perimeterinbreuk of ander verdacht gedrag detecteert, krijgen de beveiligers direct een alarm binnen op hun radio en kunnen ze meteen op onderzoek uitgaan. Gebruikers kunnen ook zelf alarmen activeren, waarna het beveiligingsteam zich direct kan richten op de juiste camerabeelden.
Deze integratie stelt de teams in staat om beter geïnformeerde beslissingen te nemen, sneller en effectiever te reageren op incidenten en het personeel efficiënt in te zetten bij noodgevallen. Uiteindelijk draagt dit alles bij aan een nog veiligere terminal.
